We offer hand-picked products that are effective, affordable and less likely to cause tooth sensitivity/irritation. Other products on the market commonly have a higher percentage of hydrogen peroxide which causes chronic sensitivity and gum irritation.
Whitening products have little to no effect on restorative materials such as composite fillings, porcelain veneers, bridges or crowns. If you are planning to receive or replace a dental restoration, have your teeth whitened first and then your dentist can match the dental work to your newer brighter natural smile. It is recommended to check with your dentist and discuss the timeline for whitening when planning to have dental work completed.
The light activates the whitening gel and oxides the pigment of the teeth through dentin tubules in less time leaving the tooth white both externally and internally.
Teeth may lighten anywhere from 2 to 10 shades lighter on the whitening shade guide. With all types of whitening procedures, the degree of whiteness will vary depending on the condition of the teeth, nature of the stain, the natural pigment when the adult teeth came in and the density or porosity of the enamel.
It is natural for teeth color to regress gradually over time but it can be accelerated by exposing the teeth to various staining agents such as coffee, tea, tobacco, red wine, pop etc. To optimize your results, we recommend not eating or drinking anything other than water for 60 minutes after the whitening treatment because the whitening gel opens the pores of your enamel making your teeth more vulnerable to staining agents.
Teeth whitening is a safe and comfortable way to get a bright smile. We recommend that pregnant and nursing mothers, diabetics, those with gum disease, worn enamel, cavities, exposed roots and those with pre-existing medical or periodontal problems consult their physician/dentist prior to using any whitening product.
Do not use any whitening agents when undergoing orthodontic treatment as it will only whiten enamel around the fixed brackets/bands/attachments. AFTER your braces have been removed it is a good idea to wait at least a month before any sort of whitening treatment. This will give the newly exposed enamel time to become less sensitive and for any residual adhesive to be removed.
